Well, there are a few things you can do to identify if a social network account is fake. Most of the times, you’d be looking on how old is the profile, how many interactions and comments it has on the pics and posts, and if it has any other interaction along. Also, check their friends, most of the times if it is a fake profile, it will have random friends, with nothing in common between them. It will also depend on the social platform. For example, on Instagram, since most interactions are done through the pics, it is almost impossible to spot a fake profile if it is from a hot girl since the pics themselves generate enough interaction. Check for age, pics, interactions, and friends. If it checks out all that, then check posts for locations, uploaded from mobile or other stuff. if the profile is somewhat restricted or private, it is almost impossible to find out if it is fake.

The probability to know if a social media account is authentic can be established a bit easily. You just need to snoop around his/her friends list, pictures and social media posting. You need to pay very close attention to what that person says if it correlates to any information that has been posted. A great number of inconsistencies is proof that you are talking to a poser.
Also, you can just google their name if you know their profession and their current location. Their name would turn up if they have roots in that community.
Even if you did all these, it does not guarantee you can authenticate a person’s identity as there are a lot of posers who are very good in masking their own identity and stealing others identity.
