Some see their own long term therapists, some see therapists on an as-needed basis and some deal with psychological issues by talking to friends or family. For some it might depend partially on how serious the problem was.
It depends on the person. If some have depression, they will speak to a therapist. Some will try to handle it on their own, when they shouldn’t. Some take their own knowledge and try the things that they know helps with depression i.e. get support from friends, keep active, practice meditation, take a vacation. Sadly, I have noticed that people that understand how mental health works can be very resistant to getting help when they need it. There can be fear of losing your license or being accused of being incompetent in mental health. It is a one of the fields where one can burn-out so bad that health suffers, some practice self-care to prevent depression and burn out the best they can.
