Have you ever found out about a big lie your friend ever told you?

As much as we might not like to admit it, we all lie pretty much every day of our lives. There’s more to a lie than meets the eye, especially one that holds a lot of truth.

Well, we were close to graduating from college, myself and my friend decided to start looking out for job placement. We sent out our resumés to some view places, attended interviews and all. And oh, we told some people we felt could help our predicament, which was looking for jobs. We studied same thing, so it was pretty easily for us both to job hunt together. Unbeknownst to me, he already told someone about the issue, and he had been called in for an interview. He did not tell me. Now, you might say he did not lie, that he simply did not just tell me. But we told each other everything, especially concerning the job hunting. So, he kind of lied. It was a big deal. I did not know about everything until he got mail that he didn’t get the job, he was so sad for days and just had to tell me about it. He had high hopes he was going to get picked.

When my best friend since high school told me her boyfriend had proposed and that they were getting married, I was thrilled. I said “I can’t wait to be a bridesmaid!” or something in that line. “oh, I don’t think I’ll have bridesmaids,” she replied. I found it a little odd but hey, who was I to argue? Months later, we were driving to the lunch venue with her and another friend who mentioned being maid of honour. I felt like I’d been stabbed in the heart. Turns out she had 3 bridesmaids, just none of them were me. Our friendship unravelled after that as I realised the “bestie” tag I’d hung on our relationship wasn’t mutual.
