Effective ways to quit smoking

How do I effectively and permanently quit smoking? I got addicted to smoking pretty early in life, I don’t have any underlying illness or disease as a result of smoking yet. But I wish to quit before it starts endangering my health. I’ve tried to stop couple of times, I just don’t know how to reject when I’m offered a joint.

Simply decide to stop, your decision to stop will lead you into taking further steps in your journey. Avoid situations that make you smoke-be it friends, places, or activities that always make you want to smoke. Make new friends, you can make friends with people that do not smoke, this will constitute a motivation for you to stop. Also, you can decide to let some of your close ones know about your decision to quit smoking. These are the people that will support you and often motivate you to keep you going. They will also be the ones to help you fight against the urge to smoke-you will feel like smoking, especially low hat you’ve decided to stop. If you’re the type that have particular time when you smoke, try to fix an activity into that period. That activity will keep you busy and make you forget about smoking for that period.

I was so much addicted to smoking until I had an encounter that triggered me to quit.
The first thing you should always know is this, only you can make yourself stop smoking. No matter how much people try to convince and talk to you to stop, you will not stop until you make that decision to stop. Making the decision to stop is the first step to quitting smoking. When you’ve decided to stop, don’t be too aggressive about it. Take a step at a time. You didn’t become an addict in a day, you cannot totally quit in a day. It is a gradual process of consistency. Know your reasons for quitting. You can write down these reasons, it will help you in your journey towards quitting. There are times you’d feel like smoking, in fact, there are days you’d smoke a little. Don’t consider yourself a failure. You will only be a failure if you stop your journey because of one single mistake. Don’t be too hard on yourself. When you feel like smoking, you could just eat something like snacks or chew mint gums. Have lots of snacks you could always munch on. Stay busy, it’s only when you’re idle that you’d start having the urge to smoke. Be involved in productive activities. These things will really help you in your journey to quit smoking.
