Weight gain occurs when the number of calories you consume is more than your body needs to maintain itself. If over-sleeping lowers your activity level and you do not change how much you eat, weight gain could occur.
Because hormones that regulate the number of calories needed for body maintenance (i.e. your metabolism) are produced during sleep, under-sleeping or poor quality sleep can also alter this balance, potentially resulting in weight gain.
Not quite sure of the understanding of your question, and I really do not have the knowledge of how sleeping position do affect weight gain or loss. However, it’s a well known fact that sleeping pattern do infact have a huge effect on your weight journey. Your sleeping pattern refers to the period you use for sleeping, when and how long you sleep for. I really hope this at least helps.
