The major difference I can find between the glass and silicone bong is the durability anyway. Glass bongs are made from glass. Therefore, if you drop them or if they are handled without care, they have a tendency to break. Which apart from that, I can’t think of any advantage the silicone bong has over it.

It’s all about the durability. If you’re using it on the daily, share it with other people, or you travel or camp a lot, then silicone is your best bet.
It’s silicone, so it doesn’t have the premium feel of glass bongs. Glass is also nice because it is transparent, so you can easily see when you need to clean it out, which is a bit harder to do with non-transparent silicone. Ideally you have both. A nice glass bong for home or living room use and then a smaller silicone one that you can toss in a backpack or trunk to go to a friends house without worrying about breakage.
I like to use a glass bong over anything else because it keeps the water colder than a silicon or plastic bong and it is a lot easier to keep clean, it is impossible to keep a silicon bong clean. I remember my mate had one that was pink, within a few months it was dark purple, no cleaning chemical or scrubbing will get it looking brand new. The only positive thing to a silicon bong is that it is unsmashable, but I’d rather just put a stem and conepiece in a plastic bottle and change the bottle every couple months.
