No, beer by itself does not give one a beer belly. What leads to beer belly is when you drink beer, you get drunk, and when you get drunk, some people tend to eat, and because they’re drunk, they tend to eat heavier, greasy, fried foods, burgers, fries, onion rings, nachos, fish and chips, etc. These are all fat-laden, heavy foods that drunk people tend to binge on, and they aren’t aware they’re over-eating because they’re drunk.
Beer belly is fat that accumulates around the waist. Statistically speaking, it’s more common for men because of how their bodies store fat. Also m, beer is also a high carbohydrate drink that is more commonly preferred among men and carbs are high calorie and can lead to fat build up. Beer contains lots of things in it besides alcohol which leads people to feel fuller or bloated after drinking beer vs other drinks. This is why when fat accumulates around the waist it is sometimes referred to as a beer belly because that’s the perceived cause of the weight gain.
