So as funny as it sounds and as contrary to popular belief it may be, there is actually a form of weed that helps people lose weight.
So the normal cannabinoid or chemical in weed that gets people high is THC. Well this newly discovered cannabinoid called THCv is supposed to have the affects of suppressing appetite. It is just being discovered because scientific studies on cannabis haven’t been legal until recently, and this form of THC is somewhat rare and found only in certain strains, so it is a modern discovery!
Despite cannabis appetite-stimulation, frequent use has been shown to improve a body’s ability to regulate glucose levels, and despite consuming more calories on average, people who use cannabis tend to be slimmer. Cannabis users were, on average, skinnier, had healthier levels of cholesterol than non-users, lower levels of insulin and lower levels of insulin-resistance, a risk factor for diabetes. Cannabis is currently under study for its effects against certain factors that contribute to obesity, and terpenes found within cannabis, such as humulene, have shown appetite-suppressing properties.
