Can I whiten my teeth at home with baking soda?
Yes, baking soda does help make your teeth look whiter, but I would not recommend you to brush with only baking soda though, instead use toothpaste with the baking soda already in it. All toothpastes have baking soda in it already, but the ones with the baking soda label on it have more of it.
Baking soda actually functions as a teeth whitener in two different ways. Because of its abrasive nature, baking soda removes built-up plaque on teeth and the alkaline powder in baking soda can help remove discolorations.
While this method can be effective, it will only remove stains on the surface of the teeth.
Through the years, baking soda has become the most common household items that are typically available for some “on the spot” teeth whitener. If you would like to try this at home, simply mix equal parts baking soda and water. This will create a great “mild abrasive” that will effectively remove surface stains, from your teeth. Gently, scrub in a circular motion. As a result, this will make your teeth appear whiter.
