Dreams can tell you something about how your subconscious works, but there’s no proof that they tell the future or give any insight beyond just what your brain comes up with while in rest mode. Dreams can be very informative and enlightening. The subconscious mind is an incredible storehouse of information and perceptions. Sometimes a dreamer will spontaneously have an insightful dream because of significant issues that the mind is dealing with.
Dreams are constructs of the mind, while you are alseep your brain is still active and can try to work solutions to problems and even run simulation, but with added exaggeration and imagination. I might dream of what to do if I’m lost in the woods, or show up at school without pants on, and then something I’m terrified of shows up. But no, your dreams don’t have any magical powers. In your dreams, your mind cannot see the future.
