The first thing to look for in recognizing demonic spirits is spiritual or emotional withdrawal. You will also begin to lack hunger for the things of God. Then, you may begin to suppress everything, unable to express emotions, rejoice in the Lord, or praise God. He or she becomes emotionally isolated and joyless. The spirit becomes broken and crushed. Unable to break through emotionally or spiritually, the natural tendency is then to become even more despondent, even to the point of giving up. Demonic activity becomes noticeable. Satan will use any situation he can for his ultimate purpose, which is to “steal, kill, and destroy.” Depression is a big door that opens wide to allow more demonic activity.
The gift of discerning of spirits is greatly needed for the times in which we live. Since not all supernatural activity comes from the Holy Spirit, it can sometimes be hard to tell where it originates. But those who can penetrate deeply with the gift of discerning of spirits can tell the difference between supernatural activity from the Holy Spirit and that from another source. The gift of discerning of spirits is the God-given ability or enablement to recognize the identity of the spirits behind different manifestations or activities. The Holy Spirit is Holy and pure, but demons are corrupt, dirty and filthy, although can pretend to be good, but will always lead the person to sin. The Holy Spirit always glorifies Jesus, but demons glorifies the person in whom they dwell, causing the person to draw attention to himself other than Jesus. The Holy Spirit never blanks out our mind, when speaking to us. You are still conscious of your physical environment, but demon spirits blanks out a persons mind, they function better when the person is passive.
