Personally, I’d happily hire someone with a criminal conviction for a job role if they apply fit for the role. I don’t really care much about drugs offenses, unless they are involved with some large scale dealing. So I guess it also depends on the crime. I wouldn’t hire someone with crimes suggesting personality disorders – no stalkers, no anger issues, no revenge stuff. I wouldn’t employ a murderer,
Criminals tend to be repeat offenders. If you committed a crime before, you’re more likely than the average Joe to commit another one. Employers see you as a liability and don’t want anything to do with you. A criminal history establishes a sense of disregard for authority. If a person is willing to break the law why would they recognize company policy?
