Can an individual who’s in the US for visitation work with the visa?
You are not allowed to work or even try to find a job in the US with a visitor or tourist’s visa. A visitor’s visa prohibits the holder from taking any kind of job; full time, part time or contract job. However, if you happen to get a job in the US while on your visitor’s visa, you can apply for a change of visa or have your employer do a change of visa status for you before your visitor’s visa expires. Or if you desire to work in the USA, you can send an application to request for a work visa right when your visitor’s visa is still valid. If you are caught working without a work permit or visa, you will face serious consequences, heck! you may be deported.
As a general principle you aren’t allowed to work on a tourist or visitor’s visa whether you are. .I haven’t heard of a single country where it is legal. I imagine it’s technically illegal in either all or almost all countries. But it’s possible in may be legal in some. However, in many countries, authorities won’t care if you’re working as long as you’re not taking a local job or doing work for a company in that country. A tourist visa gives you just one option: to visit the US, have a nice time, and go home to your native country. You are not allowed or permitted to work on a tourist visa and any employment during such a visit may result in a ban on any future visa application.
