I have had my smiley pierced for over a year now, and I’ve learnt in that time that even when I have horseshoe jewelry in or a ring, people don’t tend to notice it unless I really grin or laugh. On the other hand, my smiley is quite high up as I have quite a ‘gummy smile’, so if yours is lower down (e.g. If it rests on your teeth) I would suggest wearing a straight or slightly curved bar. This is near impossible to notice unless you literally lift up your lip with your hands. Hope that helped!
The septum piercing is a great facial piercing that is becoming wildly popular among all ages and styles. It’s one of the most easy piercings to hide because if you wear a horseshoe ring or retainer you can flip it up and it stays put and hidden! “A traditionally placed septum piercing is not in the cartilage but rests in the soft tissue just below the cartilage. A septum retainer is effective for concealment because the U-shaped piece of metal flips up and hides inside the nostrils. For maximum concealment, a charcoal-colored retainer is best because it is darker and less reflective than shiny steel.
