Some cultures and even laws forbid you from marrying cousins. I don’t find it strange because in modern society cousins, can be so distant. About the only quibble I’d have is that you are rather narrowing the gene pool for any offspring and any genetic disorders in your family have more probability of being expressed in the children.
It’s your life, you live it as you deem fit and don’t rely on folks on the internet to determine whether something is okay or not. Some people will certainly tell you it’s creepy but honestly who gives a crap what their opinion anyway.
Personally how do you feel? It will be your decision, if you and your cousin are comfortable then you both can spend good time, take it slow and see how things goes further. Surely if you are thinking about marriage it will be difficult. But if it’s only casual relationship then it’s pretty fine. We all are very close to our cousins and we like them, that is why we are close and we share our life with them. So you both should be fine, there should not be any awkward situation.
