To put in a very simple language, to be brain dead is to be actually dead. It simply means that the person is dead. A person is dead when the brain stops functioning. Death of the brain stem causes immediate chemical and organic changes in the body, as well as a drop in body temperature That is the reason why the body keeps on receiving drugs to maintain the functions of body organs such as kidneys, heart, etc for the purpose of donations.
To be brain dead is to lost the functionalities of your brain. This is a patient’s brain has lost function in different areas, including -but not limited to- the cerebrum. Brain dead patients require life support, as they are unable to continue basic functions without machines, not even breathing. This kind of person can be said to be dead already as there is no coming back from this state.
