Even love doesn’t always last for ever and not fade away. It fades. Also, love isn’t enough to make a long-term relationship work. It’s necessary but not sufficient. Marriage is a whole lot of commitment and dedication. Some people take such commitments to heart more than others. Some take them to heart but simply can’t hack it. And it’s not just up to just one person to make a marriage work. Marriage is a corporation that goes out of business if just one of the parties pulls out.
People get married for different reasons, most times, the wrong reasons. Some, to find happiness, and while happiness does often exist in marriages, they forget that they only get this when they also give it. Love is about service. You can’t get love without giving it. People forget why they loved someone because they close their hearts. People go into marriage expecting their partner to act in certain ways or do certain things. Of course we are all imperfect and make mistakes, so each married person gets to choose their reaction to a partner’s mistake.
When someone fails to meet your expectations the most common response is disappointment or anger. Over time this leads to bitterness.
Eventually they stop seeing the good the person does and only see the negative.
