I recently just experienced this, I felt really bad that I couldn’t answer a question from my student. I know it happens sometimes but I wasn’t satisfied with how I manned the situation. I could’ve handled it better but I didn’t know how.
As a teacher, how do you handle situations where a student asks a question and you don’t know the answer?

Being a teacher, it happens to us but due to how the students consider that the teacher always remains perfect, and we the teachers should maintain the dignity in front of students. I specially do in my class that when they raise a question as I am not able to answer correctly on the spot, I just ask the students if they have any more questions, if answer is yes then I write the questions on the white board and engage the students, in this way I provide an occasion of discussion. If I don’t get to answer the questions correctly still, I make it a home assignment for myself and next day I come prepared for them.
Okay, you need to calm down, it’s nothing new. It is absolutely normal. In such a situation, I will honestly say I don’t know it, that’s after I must’ve asked the whole class about it. Then, I tell the class I will read about it and we tackle the question the following day. No one knows everything, even in their own files of study.
