What are the huge advantage of using solar cooker instead of the traditional gas or electric coolers?
Although there is a lot of variation between designs of solar cookers, in general they all fall under three categories: box, parabolic, and panel. The box style is the most prolific, due to its decent efficiency, ease of use, and price. Solar cookers really do work. Solar cookers allow you to prepare food when there is a power outage even if it is not a bright sunny day. Also, they can get hot enough to sterilize foods and drinking water.
the big concept behind solar cookers is money conservation. solar cooker relies and uses nothing other than sun, thus helping save on money that would’ve been spent on the traditional cookers. but as nice and sweet as that sounds, solar cookers cannot be used on a cloudy or raining day. also, there is limit to when you can cook, you cannot cook at night when the sun is not out. hence, i see solar cooker as a mere supplement, it should not serve as the major means of cooking.
