Using the phone for intensive tasks such as gaming causes the phone to heat up. While charging, the phone gets heated up due to the resistance offered to current. Now there is nothing more harmful for a lithium ion battery than heating. So, when the heat from charging and that from usage combine, they make the battery excessively hot which shortens it’s life. Therefore you shouldn’t use the phone when charging.
