A childhood friend of mine recently got married and her husband took her name. I gained respect for the guy because of this. It shows how confident he is in his relationship and how open-minded he is. As a woman, if I end up marrying a man one day, I would be beyond excited and flattered if he chooses to take my last name. However, I’m not expecting that. I plan on either hyphenating or keeping my last name. I’m not planning on having kids, so that wouldn’t be an issue. However, if we do decide to adopt, I’d hope he would be okay with making the kid’s last name hyphenated. I feel like that’s fair.
