If you think it was because they brought in a higher caliber person over you then it is not really a demotion but you feel that way, you should learn from this person. By your total support this person will feel obligated to train you for higher things.

A programmer is someone who writes or maintains software or scripts. The PC repair guy may understand hardware and know what part you need to replace, but he isn’t a programmer. A hacker studies security flaws and knows how to get around computer security. It doesn’t have to be technically challenging, the biggest security risk is the user, either from being tricked, manipulated, or making a dumb mistake. Most of hacking is psychological, some is understanding networks, and the last part is running other peoples scripts and being able to manipulate code.
