When it comes to hiring people, many companies often go for the cheaper labour without really considering age bracket. Very few companies have age restrictions when it comes to their recruitment process.

Honestly it’s extremely rare to find a younger employee worth giving a chance. The old school work ethic is replaced with video game mentality, the older generation can act, think and move forward without having to rely strictly upon a rigid scripted set of rules and parameters. The older generations when they were younger, if they did not perform well enough on the job were fired, the newer ones benchmark is so very low, it takes an act of God to get rid of them. The younger generations multi task everything, they are not interested in focusing and excelling at one given task, they have to dilute it all by juggling in many more tasks, most of them unrelated to the job requirements and you are competing with their social media, various phone apps and of course the dreaded constant texting of their friends back and forth all day long.
It depends on the job requirements and the person or the company hiring. Older people pros: reliability, consistency, already trained and work ethic. Older people cons: higher salary, family demands and higher medical costs. Younger people pros: innovation, enthusiasm and updated education and, since they are starting out, you can pay them less. Younger people cons: tend to switch jobs more, less company loyalty and a sense that they are entitled. So, if you are trying to fill a position that is complex, but has standard set of rules you would look for an older person. If you are trying to fill a position that requires innovation and creativity, such as advertising, web design, you would look for a younger person.
