This is gradually become a really common phenomenon, while this is for the safety of the company, it is a breech of the individual privacy. This can also breed bullying among co-workers. Would you subject yourself to drug testing at your workplace?

Yes, if it a condition of your employment. One of the last jobs I had, we were subjected to 4 random testing a year plus you could be asked to take one if the management deemed your actions suspicious enough that drug or alcohol usage is suspected. Lots of people make the choice to abuse drugs and alcohol on a regular basis. It is their right to want to hire employees that are not burning or drinking their brains out. It is called ‘responsibility’, something a lot would not know about. It’s all for the safety of the company, they are in the right to position to know about whoever they’re hiring.
It is legal for your employer to randomly drug test you for no reason. The only exception is if your employer forces you and only you to take a pre-employment drug test as a condition for employment. If no one else is being asked to take a drug test as a condition for employment but you are, then that would be considered discriminatory. Random drug tests on-the-job without cause are perfectly legal.
If an employer asks you to take a drug test in a manner that confirms with the law, how they can treat you if you test positive may differ by state. Depending on the state, they may be legally barred from not hiring you, firing you, or firing without unemployment benefits, etc.
Whether you can be legally punished for refusing the test also varies by state. The legality behind employment drug testing continues to evolve as recreational marijuana becomes legalized throughout the U.S.
