I think it’s quite unprofessional to ask this of your boss, under normal circumstances, but considering the kind of relationship you might have with him or her, if you feel comfortable doing this then it might be worth a shot, I personally do not see myself doing this so it would be a NO for me.
Ultimately, it boils down to your personal relationship, there are no laws forbidding this, you have to be careful though as not to be perceived as unprofessional. I would only advise this if you are quite comfortable relating to your boss and also, be prepared for a NO, because that is definitely a possible reaction.
