I didn’t activate mine as I planned to come back to it after spending so much on building my PC in the beginning. Five months later I don’t think I will ever activate it. The watermark could be annoying for sometimes, but that’s just by the way. It’s not compulsory to activate your windows, itjust won’t let you change the colors or the background. And you have that watermark, if those things don’t bother you then it’s fine to leave it unactivated.
Aside from not being able to personalize your desktop, change color themes, the “Activate Windows” watermark; and the nagging about needing to activate, there’s really nothing to it. The OS will still behave as it should, you’ll still be able to install apps but you may not be able to customize the icons, and it will still pull down security updates. Microsoft decided that petty annoyances like those were sufficient penance for not coughing up the cost of a license.
