Although, this doesn’t get enough attention. Why is rape always common in male prisons?

The moment you’re seen as a weakling, you’re automatically targeted for all sorts of assaults and abuse in prison. The worse part is, some correctional officers in some facilities are also perpetrators of this horrible act. It’s no brainer really, it happens. This continues to go on and on, the aftermath of this is really traumatic. Of course not to mention the health risks and all.
Most times when men rape their fellow men in prison, they do it just to show their power over the persons raped. The rapist see it as a way of showing his power over others. There are three ways to survive in prison. Cold, Crazy, or Connected. If you have a stone cold murder on your jacket, they’ll most likely leave you alone. If you’re a crazy motherfucker who will put an icepick through their eye for looking at your ass, they’ll probably give you wide berth. And if you have friends on the inside who have your back, you probably won’t have to fear getting violated. Everyone else is pretty much game, as it’s difficult to survive prison alone. You’ll need a crew, and crews never respect someone who will roll over.
