This book disturbs be more than any horror movie could ever hope to. I am questioning the mental state the author might have been in while writing this. The way the book was executed it is horrific. This is why, to many people, it comes off as being homophobic and bias towards gays, saying that gay people are really just confused and were molested as children.
The tone of this book is very dark. As although no nudity is shown we do have a page illustrating Alfie under the covers with his uncle, whos bare shoulders are shown. It, frankly, is gross. Although I do think if it had been executed correctly, written with the right tone and aimed at the right audience, this book could have had a good message to children. Sometimes it happens this way, sometimes it doesn’t — and the slightly condescending tone this book has at Alfie’s notion of being gay isn’t very openminded to the sometimes it doesn’t.
This is not a childrens book. If anyone read this to any kid of mine, I’d probably distance myself and my kid from them for a while.

I was going to ignore this. I really was. But this is sick. I can’t believe something like this is even out there. And the worst part, in my opinion anyway, is it’s aimed at children and there are people out there who are supporting this book and say it sends a good message to children. I just cannot deal… I have no idea what to say about that.
I pity the parents who actually bought this book for their kids and thought it was educational. Parents, if you want your kids to be informed about incest and sexual abuse, just talk to them. I’m sure they’ll understand.
This horribly written, homophobic book is only going to brainwashed your kids into thinking that homosexuals are the result of sexual abuse or parental abandoning.
Homosexuality isn’t a disease. It only means that that person likes someone who is the same sex as him or her. That’s it. There’s no need to panic.
