Ideally, the lower front teeth lies behind the upper front teeth. If a person notices a gap between them and experiences problems biting an apple or taking a bite using his front teeth then its not an ideal arrangement of teeth. In dentistry, it is called an “Anterior Open Bite”. The dentist might recommend orthodontic treatment (braces) after proper examination of the mouth.
There is a problem in your malocclusion. While you just close your mouth,as you say your teeth don’t line up,there is no overbite and overjet. This is Class 1type of malocclusion and can be corrected by fixing braces. It may take 7months to 1year, depending on your complexities.
