My dog licks my face all the time. Is this out of excitement? And is it okay?

It is dangerous to let a dog lick you in the face. Do you know where that mouth has been? Dog’s hiney plus the hiney of any other dogs it meets. When I was a child my family went to visit some cousins. They had a little dog and my younger sister let it lick all over her face. It didn’t take long until she got very sick, sore throat, fever, vomiting. It is actually dangerous to get germs into your mouth, eyes, nose, or any other mucous membranes.
Not good! A dogs mouth is definitely not the most hygienic of places. I would never allow my dog to lick my face because I wouldn’t no just what he had been licking first – could be his genitalia, his backside, some tasty week old morsel he found, he list goes on. Dogs often lick their human friends’ faces to show affection. They often lick people they love. It’s a similar gesture to cats. A female cat will often lick a human showing that she loves him or her.
