I dare say there is no truth in this, it is mere myth. A successful woman only intimidates a man whose pursuit of excellence is not going so well. Powerful, successful men often need a strong and intelligent woman by their side. What tends to happen is by the time a successful woman realizes her dreams, most men who are at her level will no longer be single. Women tend to sacrifice relationships when they are building themselves academically or in business, by the time they have it all they try to date but meet men below their level. These men will never appreciate them because they are intimidated, but that is only because they are not on the same page. It is very difficult to meet an equally successful single man after you have made it.
Every single guy I know is out there right now looking for just that: a confident and successful woman. The caveat is that no one wants their spouse to be leaps and bounds beyond them – we are all looking for a partner, not a master. So if you are a confident, successful, and intelligent woman you will need to work harder to find someone who is just as confident, successful, and intelligent as you are. If you play at your level, you won’t feel like you’re intimidating anyone.
