Well, that’s because more and more adults are getting diagnosed, symptoms and criteria are becoming more recognized. It’s a good thing guess. The more awareness, the less people will have to go undiagnosed and suffering. It’s also alright if people think they have it. A psychiatrist is a highly trained specialist and be well able to decide if this person actually has adhd or not.
There is a lot of people who claim the diagnosis causally without a formal evaluation. Although there may be increased awareness in some aspects, it’s still stigmatized and thought of personality trait by some. I hear people say they’re ADHD solely based on what they think the disorder is rather than being seen by a clinician.
