Men tend to age slower than women. It has to do with their higher testosterone levels which has been shown to reduce the degradation of collagen and elastin, two important components that keep our skin looking younger. Of course, this also depends on the lifestyle of each one. I don’t smoke, drink alcohol moderately, do physical exercise every day and eat healthy. However, men die younger compared to women so I guess we get the worst piece of the cake in the end.
Child birth and raising a child is big physical investment for women. As women age their fertility declines. By age 50 most women are infertile. Men who were genetically predisposed to be attracted to such women wouldn’t pass on their genes. Men attracted to much younger fertile women were much more likely to pass on their genes. So evolution has shaped men to desire young fertile women but the same isn’t true of women. Women attracted to older men could still have children. Male fertility declines much more slowly.
