The most important and common place a fire extinguisher is the kitchen. However, the laundry room is another common place for fire to start, specifically the dryer machine. The lint in your dryer is very flammable and can catch on fire due to the high temperatures of the machine. To reduce the chance of a dryer fire, be sure to clean the lint trap after every load. Also, the dryer exhaust tube could fill with lint, which should be cleaned out every six months. But as we know, fire extinguishers are the best tools for fire prevention, so make sure you also have an extinguisher nearby in case of emergency.
Each fire extinguisher should be located in accessible areas that are not obstructed by furniture or any other objects that make them difficult to access in the event of a fire. There are also fire extinguisher brackets that are installed which ensure that fire extinguishers are well-maintained and easily accessible. Fire extinguishers should be located in areas susceptible to fires, and it’s recommended that they are positioned with a surrounding clearance of a minimum of one metre.
