A mother should breastfeed her baby for as long as both she and the baby want to. It’s a relationship of two and both need to want and need to. Some say six months is good. Some say as long as the baby gets that first colostrum, you’re good. Others are proponents of extended breastfeeding. Some don’t breastfeed at all and still have wonderfully healthy and adjusted children! It depends on what works for each mother, honestly.
Personally I believe that should be up to the mother. It has been shown that breastfeeding for longer than normal does have advantages. As long as you can and it feels comfortable for you. It has many health benefits for the baby and for you. I believe after 2 years the health benefits aren’t as high as by then they should be eating everything and drinking normal milk, even though a lot of people say the benefits continue after then.
