Although it’s outside the role of a traditional finance, today’s fintechs expect successful candidates to have an understanding of the kinds of technology that defines so much of the space. For that reason, aspiring financial professionals should have more than a passing knowledge of the blockchain, which is the encrypted digital ledger system that makes cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin possible. As it turns out, the blockchain is proving to be a versatile tool that fintechs and other businesses are developing into a wide range of new products. While it’s not essential for a finance professional to become expert in matters related to the blockchain, understanding its concepts and functions is a must.
Modern tech companies could be using so many different frameworks, tools or languages to create similar outcomes. You could get hands on working or even volunteering for a Fintech in your area to learn about what role would be a good fit for you. To get more fluent in the sector you could start reading every article Chris Skinner posts twice and try to really understand it. I also like Pascal Bouvier. Ignore most of the things coming out of consultancy firms. Better to read one piece and fully understand it over going through hundreds of tweets or what not.
