Stop the engine immediately and stop all unnecessary accessories, pull over to a safe place at the side of the road and turn the engine off. Engine damage can result if you continue to drive while it’s overheating. Once the engine has cooled, you can add coolant to the radiator which may get you to your destination safely.
Generally an overheating car won’t cause a fire. That’s usually the result of an oil or gas leak or a wiring short. An overheating engine would be seized up before it reached a temperature that would cause a fire. you will know the car is overheating from the temperature gauge and warning lights on the dashboard. The best and first thing to do is to switch off the engine and the ac, you may wait for some time so the engine cools down before you use it again.
