What is the best way to deal with hateful comments from people?

Some of the worst displays of disdain is not in person but online. Negative comments can be aggressive, insulting, vindictive and mean. The anonymity of the internet has given some vitriolic people the boldness to say whatever they want to whomever they want, and dealing with this set of people is an everyday reality.

The best way that has ever worked and is still working for me is to treat them as irrelevant. Treat the comments and the people passing the comments as irrelevant. You’re not doing this because you dislike them or anything, you are doing this for your own peace, for your own sanity. Hateful comments are so bad they can get into someone’s head and ruin their self esteem. You have a responsibility to yourself, to make yourself happy and stay sane.

One way, ignore them. Why should you bother about them? People who look at everything only through their thinkings and beliefs and fail to see the other side give such comments without bothering whether their deed is right or wrong. That is why it is said, ‘ stand on the other man’s shoes and see.’ You can see many such thoughtless people in the society and even within the family. If you go on taking them serious you will loose confidence in yourself.
Don’t bother about what others think or say about you, but be firm in your right thinking, right belief, right behaviour and right attitude and walk on head high.
