I don’t think as a beginner there is such a thing as the best opening, what you want to end up with is a playable position. If your opponent is much stronger and more experienced you’re likely to lose anyway and should grab the opportunity to learn something. If you play other beginners they’re likely to deviate very quickly. So stick to basics, try to occupy the center, directly or indirectly. try not to play the same piece twice and waste time, play pawns once, and then leave them alone for a while if possible. Develop your Knights and Bishops, try to castle early, and connect your rooks. By the time you’ve done all that it’ ll be about move 9/10 and that’s most of the opening gone… So decide on which square your Queen looks useful and if a rook can be placed on an open file … and stuff like that. As a beginner just don’t initially bother too much with opening theory, just familiarize yourself with the feel and tactics of the game by just playing.

Best chess opening for a beginner— I don’t think there is anything like best chess opening, but you should select an opening which is most comfortable for you. Picking the right chess opening is important if you want to be successful in your chess career. Due to the vast amount of openings and defences out there, choosing the right opening may seem very difficult. Studying an opening is a major commitment, which is why it is important to look at all different openings and find which one suits you best. Make sure that you enjoy playing that opening. If you’re a strategic player, you will probably not enjoy playing the King’s Gambit. At the same time, your chess will be stronger if you play positions you can dominate. Understand the positions that arise from your opening. Is your opening sharp? What kind of positions emerge from this opening and how comfortable are you at playing these positions? Understand how much time you can devote to studying openings. If you possess a limited amount of time you can devote to studying openings, it would not be the best idea for you to delve into openings with heavy amounts of theory. Study systems or openings that don’t require a lot of preparation or memorization.
