It is more complicated than you might think to use 5G, and there are different types that offer different speeds. Two types of 5G are available on T-Mobile’s 5G network. 5G Extended Range is a version of 5G that will be faster than 4G LTE and will cover many cities, including many undeveloped rural areas. “5G Ultra Capacity” is the fastest 5G that promises higher LTE speeds than 4G. To tell the difference between the two, you’ll see the 5G UC icon when you’re connected to T-Mobile’s best 5G network. When you’re connected to T-Mobile’s “Extended Range” 5G network, you’ll only see the 5G signal.
