Friendship breakups often hurt more than actual romantic breakups, especially long term friendships. That’s because we don’t always see us falling out with our friends that we’ve done almost everything together. But when we enter romantic relationships, we know that there’s possibility of things going south, but not with friendships. The worst part is trying to move forward, knowing that all those plans and premonition of your future will now carry on without them there. That even makes it hurt the more.
It depends on the kind of friendship and the kind of relationship though. There are some friendships you’re almost certain would be a lifetime thing except death happens, but relationships, you already know it’s a 50/50 thing. I fell out with a friend of mine recently, we had met in college and stayed friends since then, until recently. If I was asked then, I’d say I saw her in my 40-50years future. But then, life happened and each person went their way. It was really painful and hurtful, but that’s not on me. People will always go.
