When you’re self-hosted that means that your website is the only site hosted on the server. With shared hosting, the amount of disk space and bandwidth you’re allotted is limited because there are others sharing the server.

A self hosted website can have its own domain name. Same is not true for a WordPress hosted website which gives you the Web address in the format of: alisegeereshkuy.wordpress.com. You cannot make your website as feature rich if it is hosted on Wordress server. Whereas , in case you have a self hosted WordPress site, you can add/remove whichever plugins or templates for your website. You can have full control over the files, images etc. if you have a self hosted site. If you have a wordpress hosted site, you can only add and edit the content you put in – you cannot make any changes to underlying template files.
If you feel that you are competently capable of building and operating a website by yourself, then by all means go for self-hosting. Not only will you have to deal with building the site yourself, but also hosting it from your own server or home computer. This can be a laborious and expensive process by yourself, so I’d only recommend doing that if you have en expert guide to hand or are extremely competent in web development. I would strongly recommend WordPress hosting because you can still sink your teeth into some technical management, but without the actual headaches of full-on web development. Managed WordPress hosting is ideal if you need someone to take care of the nitty-gritty technical labour of getting your site up and running properly. Using Managed WordPress hosting allows you to focus on making the site professional and presentable, without having to take time off from your business to figure out some FTP error. WordPress is highly customisable and allows a great deal of creative freedom. Managed WordPress hosting takes away most of the headache-inducing work, but frees you up to look after and polish your own website as you see fit. WordPress also comes with stacks of free, but valuable, plugins.
