If your competitor copies your strategy, pat yourself on the back because you are obviously doing something right. When you first started creating your company, you probably tried many strategies to see which one would get you the results you wanted. The first company to implement a successful strategy will always have a first-movers advantage. The first movers advantage is your brands ability to be remembered as the first in a particular market, and being the better company. While many successful copy-cat company will always remain in the shadows of the first unless it wins over it’s competition, you need to be careful. If for whatever reason you competitor copies your strategy and overlaps you, that is purely your fault for failing to adapt and innovative.
It’s called competition and anyone that has a good idea will be copied in some shape or form. Look at Apple as an example. After the success of the iPod and iPhone, everyone started producing similar devices. Samsung, Microsoft, Google and lots of other companies started releasing phones that copied Apple features. It’s like opening up a successful Italian restaurant and having a competitor open up a rival Italian restaurant across the street and copying your menu and lower prices. The best advice I can give you here is compete or give up. You can’t have a good idea and expect others not to copy you eventually. That’s business.
