If you’re a Canadian citizen, you can never lose citizenship, regardless of how long you’ve been away. Depending on the province, the only implementation is that you may not have health insurance once you come back. As in the case of Ontario, you’ll need to wait for 90 days. The only cases where you can lose your citizenship is if you renounce it yourself if you obtained it in a illegal way.

So the straight answer to your question is that no matter how long you’ve been out of the country and regardless of the reason you will always have the right to return to Canada.
It is possible to lose Canadian citizenship if one has been dishonest in filling in applications, when immigrating from another country. But Citizenship obtained by birth in Canada is irrevocable.
