I’ve been dealing with chronic rough patches on the lips all year-round and not just in the drier winter months.

Dry lips could be as a result of being dehydrated, frequent licking of the lips or even a dry weather. Getting rid of chapped lips comes with deliberate moisturizing of the lips.
The use of honey and coconut oil helps to reduce inflammation on the lips that could be as a result of dry lips. Honey serves as a very mild exfoliator that removes dry and dead skin from your skin. It would soft and moisturize the lips. Apply it on the lips through the day or before going to bed at night. Applying lip balms are also a good way to prevent your lips from being dry. Try as much as possible not to lick your lips because this leads to extremely dry lips in most cases. Take enough water and stay hydrated. If you know that you lick your lips often, start to break the habit.
Vitamin E capsules are very good for badly chapped lips. Just poke a hole in the end of one and squeeze some oil on your lips morning and night, or more often if needed. If you’re like me you want to peel off the hard patches, but that leaves patches of thin vulnerable skin underneath and can open up bleeding, so careful! You can layer chap stick over vitamin E. Another thing I do before bed is just slather on an intensive moisturizer cream. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water and even badly chapped lips can clear up with a little time and care.
