      Here are few tips of what to look out for before renting your apartment;
      1. Focus on the location, be sure it is a location that suits your taste. You don’t want your apartment in an area that you don’t like or won’t make you happy .
      2. Check the proximity of the area to places like the bus station/stops, train stations, airports.
      3. Avoid areas prone to violence, your safety is paramount
      4. You can visit the apartment at night to have a better look of the area at night.
      5. Ask the neighbors about area in general
      6. Check for amenities such as restaurants, gas stations, clinics and grocery stores around the area.
      7. Check the proximity of the apartment to worship centers, bars and night clubs

      After checking out the location and proximity to key places, I went to inspect the apartment itself. There are many things to focus on while on apartment inspection that you might forget about some other important things. It’s always like that. I listed out all the things I wanted to check when I went for my inspection, didn’t want to take any chances.
      Check the floors and walls for damages, be sure to check these places vet well as any damages you don’t see until you move in will be sorted by you.

      Check the windows, lights and switches to ensure they are in good condition

      Check the fire alarms and smoke detector, know their working condition. You want to be confident about your safety

      Ventilation – avoid apartments with bad ventilation and poor lighting

      Ask if there are apartment amenities, you ca ask to see them if there are.

      Check all door locks

      Find out about escape routes/emergency exits for the building

      Look around very well to check for evidence of pests

      Check through the parking lot of the apartment.

      Ensure the apartment is situated in a safe environment. That’s very crucial.

      I wish you a happy stay.
