Triggers vary from one person to another. Anything and everything can trigger someone with BPD. Anything that raises extreme emotions, positive and negative. Being left out, being overlooked, being ignored or dismissed. People with BPD need to know their voices are heard, they need to know that they are seen. They don’t like to be ignored. Being told what to do, but then no one likes to be told what to do. Being wrong, but who likes to be wrong? Making mistakes. Family interactions that are negative can trigger instability in persons with BPD.
The Borderline disordered person is never stable they are just great at acting and pretending to you. They are studying your every move, thought, word and reaction in such a meticulous fashion that it is almost like they are studying for the most important acting role of their lives. By the end of the charade you would be the first one to award them with an Oscar fit their performance. The reason why they are doing this at the start is so they can test you and your boundaries…also to make you so connected to them that the sheer thought of you leaving them will make you feel ill.
What triggers their instability are; Childhood Trauma, Emotional Dysregulation, Argument with Friend/ Family Member, Jealousy, Not getting their way, Loss of Control, Depression, Anger, Anxiety and so on. Everything triggers their instability.
