I’m not sure the series has a lot to it anymore, given that the S4 wasn’t exactly so great when it was released mid 2020. Most people expected the series to end with the release of the S4– well it did not, and S5 has been announced to be released in 2021. What are things that are likely to happen in the new season?
Due to the nature of the show’s production, there hasn’t been two separate heists, each spanning across two seasons for a total of four parts. While the first heist more or less went to plan, the same can’t be said for how we left things inside the Bank of Spain at the end of season 4. Nairobi’s (Alba Flores) execution was a major riff in the closing episodes, shattering the core team and exacerbating the chaos inside the bank even further. Then came the extraction of Raquel from the authorities which saw her dramatically re-enter the bank, while the Professor was simultaneously discovered by police officer Alicia Sierra. It’s not inconceivable to think that, given that we’ve seen two heists for each pair of seasons, the upcoming Money Heist season 5 will share the same format, perhaps focusing on a new heist, maybe even internationally. But that can’t be started until the loose ends of season 4 are tied up first. The show also loves to dabble in a non-linear approach to story-telling, so we could see Nairobi return much like Berlin’s character (in flashbacks) did in the later seasons after all.
There is no trailer for money heist 5 yet. But the producer, Pina, has teased there will be a war coming in the next season to be released.
The series is moving to a war strategy, given how S4 ended. The heist gang will be pushed into irreversible situations, into a wild war.
As well as this, based on the end of season four, it seems like the new season will follow the heist members as they try to escape from the Bank of Spain. In the final episode of season 4, Lisbon was reunited with the team inside the bank while Gandia was knocked unconscious. The show will have to deal with the massive cliffhanger left at the end of season four when Sierra found the Professor’s hideout.
In the final few moments, she held a gun to his head and said checkmate before the series cut to black. Therefore, viewers will be desperate to know what will happen next to the beloved Professor. There are some theories Sierra might kill the Professor as an act of revenge for Berlin and some say she might join the heist gang. Fingers crossed.
