There are many people around the world who are perfectly healthy and simply don’t bother to spend time drinking. However, if you will drink, drink in moderation. It is good for your heart when it is in moderation. If you’re at a restaurant or a friend’s house, don’t be afraid to order a glass of beer or red wine, or accept that drink they offer you with dinner. If grocery stores sell booze, grab a bottle or a pack of six, and you can cook with it— beer battered fish or chicken, veggies carmalized in red wine— or drink it slowly over the course of a week.
Health benefits of alcohol are dubious bets. However, there are fairly legitimate reasons to believe alcohol could be healthy, especially because the fermentation process makes the water safer. The positive effect of alcohol is not for binge drinking, it’s for having a cup of red wine with dinner and this could be very healthy for older people and allow them to live longer. Binge drinking or alcoholism are in not any way healthy or justified.
