I think that video games can achieve sports-like levels of entertainment and competition, but the only major issue is that they are not physically intensive activities, so they’re not what sports are traditional seen as. Having said that, I’m fine with them being called sports for the sake of entertainment, e.g., ESPN showing major gaming tournaments.
No, it can never be a sport, that is a fact. The reason is because it is a hobby that people have turned into a competition. The definition of sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Video games will never be a sport, it will always be a competitive hobby.
